Wharton Veterinary Clinic’s talented team includes three full time veterinarians and a dedicated health care team who are committed to providing the finest professional veterinary care for your companion animals or production animals.

Dr. Carlos E. Bonnot

Dr. Bonnot received his DVM from Texas A&M University and has more than 30 years experience practicing veterinary medicine in the Wharton area. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, and the Society of Theriogenology. He and his wife, Wanda, are lifelong residents of Wharton.


Dr. Cody Pohler

Dr. Pohler is a graduate of Texas A&M University where he received his DVM in 2007. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Consultants, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, and the Society of Theriogenology. Born and raised in Shiner, Texas, Dr. Pohler, his wife Toni and their three childen live in Wharton, Texas


Dr. Garrett Janke

Dr. Janke is a 2017 graduate of the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. His studies were focused in food animal production and medicine, but he enjoys all aspects of mixed animal practice. Dr. Janke is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, and the Society of Theriogenology. Originally from Needville, Texas, he now resides in Wharton with his wife Lauren and their two children. In his free time, Dr. Janke enjoys fishing at the coast and spending time with his family.


Dr. Lauren Davang

Dr. Davang is a 2017 graduate of the Texas A&M University. She has been practicing equine medicine for the past 4 years. She is an avid barrel racer, a card holding member of the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association and a director for Gulf Coast Barrel Racing Association. “My family and I moved to Wharton in 2008 to pursue our dream of raising AQHA registered barrel racing prospects.” She and her husband Mike don’t have any children, but have two dogs and three cats.

She enjoys all things equine but has a special interest in Equine Reproduction, mainly on Mare Management, Artificial and Deep Horn Insemination of fresh, cooled and frozen semen, as well as Embryo Flushes. She is also trained to collect stallions and process semen for AI and for cooled, shipped semen. She has a great interest in Sports Medicine and Lameness, including Pre-Purchase Examinations, Diagnostic Imaging, Joint Injections and Rehabilitation. She is well versed in Equine Emergency Medicine, including the medical management of Colic, Laceration Repairs and other unique cases that emerge.


Dr. Jerel Tolbert

Dr. Tolbert is a 2021 graduate from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. He was born and raised in Angleton, TX. He grew up participating in his local 4-H and FFA clubs. He received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Sam Houston State University. After completing his pre-clinical studies at Ross University, he attended Oklahoma State University for his clinical year.

In his spare time, Dr. Tolbert can usually be found taking care of his own cattle and horses. He also enjoys watching sports and spending time with family and friends.
